Who are CIMSPA?
The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity
Launched in 2011, CIMSPA is the professional development body for the UK’s sport and physical activity sector.
CIMSPA has been awarded chartered status by the Privy Council, which came into effect at the start of January 2012.
CIMSPA provides leadership, support and empowerment for professionals working in sport and physical activity and a single unified voice for the sector.
The vision statement of the Institute is: “To develop a vibrant, UK wide sport and physical activity sector, led by professionals providing advocacy and leadership and working in partnership with its stakeholders to help ensure the highest standards of service delivery.”
What is a CPD Point?
Continuing professional development (CPD) is the practice of undertaking additional learning through courses, workshops or conferences or taking part in other activities which confirm that their knowledge, understanding and skills are suitable for their role in our sector.
In 2018 fitting your workout into a busy lifestyle is paramount which is why Buggy Beat classes are so popular.
Buggy Beat is an outdoor cross training class for parents where baby comes along with you in the pushchair.
Sessions are taken outdoors in local parks and open spaces and includes warm up, cardio training, strength and flexibility. Its the perfect way to exercise in a group having fun, with your little one close by.
Sessions are totally inclusive, not just for mums but dads, grandparents, guardians, brothers and sisters everyone who cares for a little one is welcome to join in.
Buggy Beat is the brainchild of Rachel Holmes an International Fitness Educator who after having her son wanted to join an outdoor cross training class, to keep fit, meet other parents without the hassle of expensive childcare.
“Getting outside with the Buggy in a group is so much fun and when you have a motivating Instructor it’s a class that you look forward to every week” Says Rachel
“There is no such thing as bad weather just the wrong outfit and we go out in all weathers – we just wrap up and go for it!”
The link between regular exercise and positive mental health, increased productivity and efficiency is an amazing benefit PLUS modelling to your little one how important regular exercise is makes Buggy Beat a win-win.

Everyone is so welcome and if you have recently had a baby once you have had medical clearance you will be welcomed and cared for.
Rachel has been creating fitness programmes and brands for over 30 years. She has created group exercise programmes for Virgin Active, Fitness First, Nike and travelled all over the world speaking and educator Instructors.
“After the first session Fitpros began contacting me wanting to teach “Buggy Beat” so I created a training course and within 2 weeks we have 40 Buggy Beat Instructors from Aberdeen to the South Coast who have launched Buggy Beat locally”
